The Jazz Heads are an exciting 10-piece band led by trombonist Duncan J Reeks playing an exciting and eclectic mix of great jazz, swing, latin, funk & blues arrangements all especially scored for the unique line-up.
line-up consists of trombone, two trumpets; alto, tenor & baritone saxophones plus a rhythm section of piano,
guitar, bass & drums.
The repertoire includes the music of NYJO, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Herbie Hanccck, Horace Silver, John Williams, Frank Griffiths, Miles Davis, Tadd Dameron, Poncho Sanchez, Tom Kubis, Oliver Nelson, Sonny Rollins, Hank Mobley, Sammy Nestico, Arturo Sandoval, Chuck Mangione, Benny Golson, Dave Wolpe, Eddie Harris, Duke Ellington & Count Basie.
We are also lucky to
have our own "in-house" composers and arrangers within the band who pen both original
compositions and arrangements for the band namely Pete Cornish, Peter Nickalls & Bob
2nd June 2018 - Hastings Jazz & Blues Festival
In the 80's/90's the band regularly gigged on the South London jazz circuit with dates at the Bass Clef Club, Prince Of Orange & The Gun. They also headlined alongside Don Weller & Jim Mullen at the Wandsworth Jazz Festival.
In Sussex, the played the Brunswick Jazz Festival, Brighton as well as regularly appearing at Brighton's Jazz Club and The Hanbury Arms; Eastbourne's Lamb Jazz Club and the Underground Theatre.
More recently the band made numerous appearances at Forest Row Jazz Club and returned for yet another Jazz Breakfast concert at St Mary's In The Castle, Hastings.
